New for Summer 2026, Mountain Angler has partnered with Fly Fish Colorado to offer guided access to Abell River Ranch.
This historic fifth-generation, 1,500-acre ranch showcases everything that makes Colorado fly fishing special. Located near Lake George, Colorado, the property encompasses the largest contiguous privately owned parcel on the South Platte River between its headwaters and Denver.
The ranch features three miles of premium private water, divided into three one-mile beats, providing anglers with plenty of room to explore and fish uncrowded water. This wild trout fishery is carefully managed to deliver an exceptional experience and is home to healthy populations of brown, rainbow, and cutthroat trout, along with kokanee salmon during the fall spawning run.
Whether you enjoy delicate dry fly presentations, productive dry-dropper rigs, technical nymphing, or aggressive streamer fishing, Abell River Ranch offers outstanding opportunities throughout the season. Its diverse water types and abundant insect life make it one of the most well-rounded and sought-after private fly fishing destinations in Colorado.
