Arkansas River near Salida

October 1, 2018

Today's Rating:

Flows: 172 c.f.s.

Great fall fishing right now on the Ark! The flows are low and clear and lots of hungry trout in the riffled water and tight to the banks. Double dry flies is a great way to fish right now. Lots of fish coming up for Caddis and BWO dry fly imitations! Also, don’t forget to nymph in the deeper holes to get trout lying in colder water. Hopper dropper is a productive a way to fish as well right now. If the dry flies are not producing you can always guarantee some subsurface action below. Nymph rigs are great options for those deeper pools and pockets. Tight Lines!

Suggested Flies:

Laker Skater 12#, Swisher Foam Olive 10-12#, Red Copper John CDC #18, Pats Rubber Legs Yellow #10, Yellow Sally #16, Red Copper John #16, San Juan Worm Pink/Red #12, Red Juju Baetis 18-20#
